Organization (THAMBRAAS)

• The only State in India where concerted anti-brahmin tirade was initiated, perpetuated and continued for during the last 75 years. Such a human rights violation has not been there in any other State in India.


• We, Brahmins are a Cultural Minority among the majority Hindus of this great country-Bharath (India). We have no constitutional protection for being a cultural minority. Hence Thambraas has become necessary and important for every Brahmin from the point of view of survival in the State of Thamizhnadu and for the successful and effective retention of this unique culture and heritage.


• Here came Thambraas with a view to protect the interests of Brahmins.


• Thambraas was established on 16.11.1980 with State President’s Residence being at No.6, First Floor, Vishwakamal Apts, New No.62, R.K.Mutt Road, Mylapore, Chennai 600 004 (India)


• ‘Brahmana Seva Ratna’ Tiruvottriyur Sri.N.Narayanan is the State President of Thamizhnadu Brahmin Association (Thambraas). He has been serving with his leadership since the year 2000.


• The Silver Jubilee State Conference of Thambraas was held in the year 2005 at Chennai wherein 1,50,000 (One Lakh Fifty Thousand only) Brahmins assembled and made the occasion Historic. This conference proved to be an eye opener to the political parties and the Political leaders of Tamilnadu as this conference brought out the unity and solidarity of Brahmins of Tamilnadu.


• The elected State President is currently being supported by three (3) full time Staff Members and three (3) Honorary Office Bearers.

• More than 400 Branches all over Tamil Nadu with 40 District bodies are currently active.


• Administration is established at State level through State Administrative Body (200 Members), State Executive Committee (800 Members) and State General Body (3500 Members).


• Written byelaws as approved at the State Extraordinary General Body Meeting(s) of our Association are available and are strictly adhered to at the Branches, at District Bodies as well as at State Body.


• Brahmins in Tamil Nadu are the 6th largest community (Iyer, Iyengar, Telugu Brahmin, Madhwa, Kannada Smartha and their sub-sects). We are not very small in number as dubbed by the Dravidian elements in their narratives.


• Thambraas has been successful in effectively uniting the various sub-sects of the Brahmin community.


• All the office bearers of Thambraas are doing voluntary and free service. Due to the scattered nature of the Brahmin population in Tamilnadu we are currently having Full Time Pracharaks for the establishment and growth of number of Branches.


• Inspite of the fact that we Brahmins have not only contributed but also sacrificed for the Nation during all times in every walk of life, we are being subjected to vilification campaign in Tamilnadu and denial of opportunities in respect of higher education and employment in governments, government owned institutions, Assembly & Parliament.


• We have brought out a Rare and Wonderful book titled “Arunthondu Attriya Thamizhaga Anthanargal” consisting of Five (5) Volumes. The First edition of this book was presented to Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam at Rastrapathi


• Though the 10% EWS Reservation gives us some relief in Central Government Departments etc., this Reservation is not implemented in Tamilnadu both by the AIADMK Government and the DMK Government. We are persuading these two parties also in vain.


• We are keen to expand the wings of Thambraas throughout India and also create a worldwide network of Brahmins, so that, our activities and services reach all Brahmins.

Tambras Foundation

• Our State level Central Trust Tambras Foundation was established in the year 1997 with 80G exemption under the Indian Income Tax Act.


• We have been getting a few donations from Corporate Organisations and individuals for creating a Corpus Fund. We are yet to get big donations. We are taking efforts to obtain CSR donations from Corporate Organisations. The support and help by our Community members in this regard is humbly solicited.


• Tambras Foundation is providing Educational Aid, Medical Aid, Poor Marriage Aid, Monthly Dole for Parents with three (3) daughters.

Tambras Magazine

• We are publishing a monthly magazine called ‘Thambraas’ mostly in Tamil with few pages in English. This magazine will cover the activities of State Body, District Bodies and the Branches. This magazine has interesting and informative articles.


• Along with the Thambraas magazine, we are bringing out a supplement called Subham Sobhanam wherein horoscope details of brahmin boys and girls are given. The match making for brahmin marriage has become very difficult as you are well aware. This book is bringing together the scattered Brahmin population for purposes of matrimonial services.


• The Annual subscription for Thambraas Magazine is Rs.400/- (Rupees Four Hundred only) Life subscription for the same is Rs.4000/- (Rupees Four Thousand only). We appeal to you to subscribe for Thambraas Magazine for your family as well as to your relatives and brahmin friends.

Perpetuation of National Rishi Parampara – Matrimonial Initiative

• Currently thousands of Brahmin boys of Tamilnadu are awaiting matrimonial alliance. Due to various factors we are not getting adequate number of Brahmin girls from Tamilnadu with the result there is a huge waiting period for the Brahmin boys of Tamilnadu.


• This issue has become so vexatious and is affecting our youth and also their parents warranting top priority redressal.


• At the same time, we are getting enquiries from Northern States and Western States of India for Boys and Girls from South India and more particularly Tamilnadu.


• We are encouraging marriages among the various Brahmin sub-sects of Tamilnadu to overcome the waiting period of our Brahmin boys.


• At the same time, we are getting enquiries from Northern States and Western States of India for Boys and Girls from South India and more particularly Tamilnadu.


• Perpetuation of National Rishi Parampara - This is a new project we have embarked upon. This project addresses matrimonial services for Brahmin boys and girls from Tamilnadu with girls and boys from other States including North Indian States and West Indian States.


• We are co-ordinating with the All India Brahmin Federation (AIBF) also to obtain large scale Matrimonial alliances from various States.


• We have appointed a State Secretary for matrimonial co-ordination with the knowledge of fluent spoken Hindi.
